LED ZEPPELIN - The last flight of the Zeppelin: the history of "Physical Graffiti" in the
mid-seventies Led Zeppelin had reached its second artistic zenith and documented this in a unique way with "Physical Graffiti", the band's only double album. Until today it is Robert Plant's favourite record with the group, probably also because the formation before and after has never been more expressive and multi-faceted. Released on February 24, 1975, "Physical Graffiti" was the first record in rock history to achieve platinum status through pre-orders alone.
I beg your pardon? "+4626-COMFORTZONE"? The title of the new Beardfish album comes with a little riddle. The number code is Sweden's telephone country code and the prefix of the coastal town of Gävle, home of Beardfish. So far, so good. But what about this "comfort zone"?
Since its founding in 2001, the retroprog group Beardfish has produced seven recordings. In doing so, they often rushed back and forth in a mad way between classical prog, Canterbury echoes and Zappa attitudes. Her last work was 2012 "The Void", a work that was increasingly enriched with metal tracks. Now the four Swedes present with "+4626-COMFORTZONE" a well thought-out concept album, on which they get rid of a lot of frustration. Singer/keyboarder/guitarist Rikard Sjöblom explains why.
eclipsed: For me, the basic theme is as follows: Growing up in a provincial town whose citizens are sometimes hostile towards foreigners. Is that right?
Gävle is a city like Bottrop or Pirmasens - places which are not known for the fact that life rages in them. More like those where, as the saying goes, you fold up the sidewalks at night. This place on the Swedish east coast has the area code 26 and +46 is the country code for Sweden. Beardfish want to refer to their hometown with the title of their eighth longplayer.
