Promotion is a necessary evil for musicians. For the interview with eclipsed Spock's Bears bassist Dave Meros even interrupts his afternoon walk. On May 25th the Californians release their 13th studio album "Noise Floor" plus an EP with four more songs. Meros explains why he thinks this is a good idea, reflects on how Spock's Beard have developed over the 26 years of their existence, and explains whether and how things will continue with old and new drummer Nick D'Virgilio.

SPOCK'S BEARD - End of the conversion work

Spock's Beard are a band in flux. Without a doubt, singer/guitarist Ted Leonard, known as a member of Enchant, has also played a big part in the new Beardsound. Since joining the band in 2011, he has integrated himself perfectly. In an interview with eclipsed, the family father, who sang in several church choirs as a child and, like Neal Morse, is deeply religious, talks about his role within the group, the creation of the new album and possible anniversary activities.

eclipsed: Three years ago Spock's Beard celebrated a triumphant German comeback at the "Night Of The Prog". The group introduced you as the new lead singer. Did you have the feeling that with the following CD "Brief Nocturnes And Dreamless Sleep" you were immediately accepted as the new frontman, or did it take some convincing?

The Turn of Time - 40 Years The Dark Side Of The Moon

To describe the success and influence of "The Dark Side Of The Moon", you can't get far with conventional superlatives. Pink Floyd have brought about nothing less than a paradigm shift in rock music with this album. Perhaps the greatest merit of the group was the fact that it made the artful, skilful rock music palatable to a whole new class of listeners. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the release of the famous record eclipsed enters the far side of the moon.
