Legendary rock bands often prove to be extremely long-lived. This is also true for the German krautrock-prog-anarchist troupe Grobschnitt. Not only did they resurrect as a trio in 2019 under the name Grobschnitt Acoustic Party after their second breakup in 2012 - now they're also celebrating a whopping five decades of band history with a big exhibition in their hometown of Hagen and three birthday videos on their homepage. In an interview with the three founding members Lupo, Eroc and Willi Wildschwein we talked about the genesis of the band and their name, their musical development, their extraordinary shows and their most famous composition
A big hit for rough-cut fans: Original guitarist Lupo returns to German stages together with singer Willi Wildschwein and his son Nuki! For the first time, rough-cut classics will be heard in a purely acoustic version. After the "Last Party" tour in 1989, Lupo announced the end of Grobschnitt: "We disappear into the universe, but sometimes the universe releases something again." Now, rough-cut particles in non-electrified form.
PINK FLOYD - The early years
Half a century after the founding of the band and two years after the end of Pink Floyd announced by David Gilmour, the art-rock legend presents "The Early Years 1965-1972", a box full of 27 CDs full of rarities from her early years. We take this publication as an opportunity to recapitulate these eight formative years - the prehistory of a world career. We also let Nick Mason speak in detail about the huge archive box and his memories of that phase.
GROBSCHNITT - Rockpalastrevolte
After the big retrospective with the album box "79:10" the three founding members Lupo, Eroc and Willi Wildschwein are still working on the adventurous story of the band. After all, Grobschnitt have immensely enriched German rock music with records like "Solar Music Live", "Rockpommel's Land" and "Illegal". Guitarist Lupo and soundhexer Eroc give eclipsed information about how the "Solar Movie"-Box came into being, why 1978 was such a special year for the group and how it goes on with rough editing.
eclipsed: How did the "Solar Movie" box come about after all this time?
Lupo: The idea of releasing the Rockpalast gig has always been in our heads. We were also permanently reminded by the coarse editing friends to finally publish the video professionally. Many people recorded the performance on television and put it online many years ago.
GROBSCHNITT wish you a Merry Christmas with "Merry-Go-Christmas"!
MARK KNOPFLER - Ideally
five years after the end of Dire Straits, her boss threw himself headlong into a solo career. This has continued to this day. And Mark Knopfler will also do a devil thing to change this ideal state for him after his now released eighth recording. A world tour with the Dire Straits? "Much too stressful!"
30 Years GUNS N' ROSES - Greatness and Madness
A small inconspicuous town near Hagen in the southeastern Ruhr area. On the way to the studio of remaster expert Eroc, editor Marcus Wicker and author Walter Sehrer as well as photographer Lutz Diehl meet Gerd Kühn-Scholz alias Lupo, original guitarist of Grobschnitt. The Schalke fan carries a laptop in his blue and white sports bag. He is an event manager today and still slender as a crop. He has prepared well for his first interview in a quarter of a century. In the studio a good-humoured Eroc awaits us and serves us coffee and cake. The afternoon rushes by in the intensive conversation with the four of us. But there is enough time to talk in detail about the box "79:10" and especially about the eventful band history and a possible future of the group.

"You never yelled at us!"
The Rockpalast is alive! Even 34 years after the first official programme, the most respected live music programme on German television offers a platform for famous bands and up-and-coming acts alike. The second series of Rockpalast DVDs is currently being released. We took this opportunity to compile our own DVD with "Palast" treasures and to recall the concerts of the artists presented there.

DREAM THEATER
Controlled Chaos
With "Systematic Chaos", the first album by the new label Roadrunner, the New York Prog-King Dream Theater has once again hit the bull's eye. The sterile hardness of "Train Of Thought" has been forgotten, the "Auf Nummer sicher"-Prog of "Octavarium" has been swept away. "Systematic Chaos" finally creates the optimal bridge between aggressive metal sounds and atmospheric-progressive elements. Reason enough for an exclusive conversation with the triumvirate Portnoy/Petrucci/LaBrie in Cologne.
