SUBSIGNAL huldigen Lateinamerikas Sensenfrau mit einer ihrer optimistischsten Platten

The title of the fifth subsignal album "La Muerta" is somewhat misleading. The themes of sadness and loss that shaped the previous work have given way to a much more optimistic attitude, which is reflected in great choral movements and a stronger AOR heaviness. In addition, the Munich-based Progband, which was founded in 2007 by the Sieges-Even members Arno Menses (voc) and Markus Steffen (g), has dispensed with overcharged arrangements so that their songs can breathe better. The likeable frontman Arno Menses is happy with "La Muerta" all around, which is also due to the RPWL makers Kalle Wallner and Yogi Lang, who put the finishing touches to the record.

eclipsed: "La Muerta" is your first album for Gentle Art Of Music. Label owner Kalle Wallner had already recorded the guitars for "Touchstones" and was guest guitarist on "The Beacons Of Somewhere Sometime".

ROGER WATERS - "The Wall" and its creator 2.0

It was the absolute sensory overload. Nobody who attended one of the 219 shows could record everything that happened on stage. A sea of symbolic images, a flood of messages. A Roger Waters completely changed compared to 1980. Everything documented in impressive scenes in the new film "Roger Waters The Wall". eclipsed talked to the Pink Floyd founder about the change of "The Wall" and himself.

SUBSIGNAL - Happy constellation of stars

Subsignal mastermind Markus Steffen seems relaxed and tidy in the interview. And so could the 47-year-old: The first reviews of the new studio album were positive throughout. A small release tour also lies behind the band around Steffen and the Dutch singer Arno Menses. "Beacons" was also very well received by the fans. After two changes of line-up, the quintet may feel at the temporary high point of its career.

eclipsed: "Masterpiece", "stroke of genius" - the album reviews are sometimes exuberant. How are you doing with that?

Markus Steffen: Of course you're fine with it. That's great for us as a band and for the record company. Personally, it doesn't flash like it used to. I make music first and foremost for myself. It is important to me to write songs with which I am satisfied.

SUBSIGNAL - A Time Out Of Joint (6:36)
Album: The Beacons Of Somewhere Sometime (2015)
Label/Distribution: Golden Core/ZYX

Emerging from Sieges Even in 2007, SUBSIGNAL takes several rungs of the success ladder with each album. With the fourth work, the band presents itself as a master of contrasts. Elegant classical passages collide congenially with massive metal riffing and exquisite melodic prog meets spherical folk. (Review: eclipsed 11/2015)
