Woodstock was chaos, mass accumulation, three-day traps, drugs, storms, mud, (initially) financial disaster for the makers and funders. Although there were several major rock festivals in 1969 that went off without a hitch, this anarchic hippie happening is still considered legendary, the mother of all festivals. The "spirit of Woodstock" is still being whispered, the peaceful coexistence of about half a million people who flooded the festival grounds is being praised. Was Woodstock really the highlight of the Love & Peace movement?

Big Big Train

A Grand Tour was a cultural tradition in the 17th and 18th centuries, a kind of educational trip for young academics from a wealthy family. At the end of their studies, they set out to visit artistically outstanding sites throughout Europe. They visited historical monuments and buildings and later discussed the impressions gained during the trip. Big Big Train are joining this tradition with their new record and are undertaking a grand tour into the past and present.

Bruce Springsteen has now returned to the studio after his personality show, which featured him in over 200 performances on Broadway. He recorded 13 new songs there. The Uramerican Springsteen is on his way in these - as a hitchhiker by car, on wild horses or as a passenger in the "Tucson Train". Like Wyatt and Billy in "Easy Rider", the musician seems to be looking for a lost America on his solo record, one that doesn't exist at the moment.

Lucifer's Friend could celebrate their 50th band anniversary next year. Even if they were founded in 1970, this would have been a bit of a hair's breadth, since the German-English troops were inactive for most of the last five decades. Since about four years she has changed from sleep to watch mode again and has just released an impressive hard rock album with "Black Moon".
