Nachdem Sons Of Apollo vor zwei Jahren ihr Debüt „Psychotic Symphony“ veröffentlicht hatten, ging es erst einmal auf Welttournee mit über 100 Liveshows in 28 Ländern. Das habe die Band zusammengeschweißt, was man dem zweiten Album nun deutlich anhöre, wie Drummer Mike Portnoy und Keyboarder Derek Sherinian nicht müde werden zu betonen.
The self-imposed retirement did not last long. In January 2017, the Canadian prog institution SAGA officially announced that after the upcoming "The Final Chapter" tour, the band will return to the concert arenas in spring 2020 under the motto "Out Of The Shadows", but without bassist Jim Crichton. eclipsed: Es war nur ein kurzer Abschied von den Live-Auftritten. Warum kehrt ihr so schnell wieder zurück, Michael?
The Dutch trio DeWolff is known for psychedelic and blues rock with a lot of retro charm, often reminiscent of Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. Hammond sound and vintage equipment were a must for recordings and live shows. With the "Tascam Tapes" the band now reduces itself to an old four-track recorder, a battery-powered synthesizer, guitar, a vocal microphone and drum samples - and presents itself in this way from its soulful disco side.
eclipsed: How did you come up with the idea to record this way?

eclipsed: Wie kamt ihr auf die Idee, auf diese Weise aufzunehmen?
The musicians from Mannheim, Leipzig, Hamburg and Berlin got to know each other during their studies at the Mannheim Pop Academy. "Soul splinters were our bachelor's project at the time," says drummer and main composer Fenix Gayed. "But we soon realised that we would like to continue with the band after graduation," adds guitarist Simon Kramer in the joint interview. "We all come from different musical backgrounds, and with the founding of the project there was a fusion of these influences.
Kennengelernt haben sich die aus Mannheim, Leipzig, Hamburg und Berlin stammenden Musiker während des Studiums an der Mannheimer Popakademie. „Soulsplitter waren damals unser Bachelor-Projekt“, gibt Schlagzeuger und Hauptkomponist Fenix Gayed zu Protokoll. „Wir haben dann aber relativ schnell festgestellt, dass wir im Anschluss ans Studium schon gern mit der Band weitermachen würden“, ergänzt Gitarrist Simon Kramer im gemeinsamen Interview. „Wir stammen alle aus unterschiedlichen musikalischen Gefilden, und mit der Gründung des Projekts kam es zu einer Verschmelzung dieser Einflüsse.

In 2004 Schmidt, one of the most dazzling figures of the local space psychedelic scene, founded Sulatron Records and in 2009 the band Electric Moon. How did the label come about in the first place? Schmidt freely admits: "What else should such a music fanatic do, if he doesn't have a job and is somehow not able to have a normal job? After all, label boss is also a job.
Wo er recht hat, hat er recht. „2020 sind das dann aber schon 16 beziehungsweise 11 Jahre“, bemerkt Dave Schmidt – stimmt, dieser Artikel erscheint ein paar Tage zu spät. 2004 gründete Schmidt, eine der schillerndsten Figuren der hiesigen Space-Psychedelic-Szene, Sulatron Records und 2009 die Band Electric Moon. Wie kam es überhaupt zur Gründung des Labels? Schmidt gesteht frei heraus: „Was soll so ein Musikfanatiker sonst machen, wenn er grad keinen Job hat und auch irgendwie nicht fähig ist, einen normalen Job auszuüben?!“ Label-Boss ist ja schließlich auch ein Job.
Norbert Krüler alias Shamall had accumulated enough trouble besides creative abundance to present mankind with a new double CD concept album. On "Schizophrenia" he deals with all kinds of self-torture: "The whole album is about this socio-political, but also everyday schizophrenia.
